geelovestowrite is pleased to have long time friend and Poet…
William Haynes
geelovestowrite: Why does poetry speak to your heart versus any other genre?
William H: Poetry speaks to my heart because it offers, in my opinion, a variety of avenues for expressing ideas. It allows me to be as creative as I so choose. Therefore, poetry provides me the freedom necessary to paint pictures with words.
geelovestowrite: What was the biggest challenge when publishing your book?
William H: The biggest challenge I was faced with when publishing my book was finding a publisher. I ran into a few roadblocks or bumps in the road which I didn’t allow to deter my drive. Those experiences are what pushed me to self-publish my project.
geelovestowrite: What advice would you give a new artist having second thoughts about their work, publishing or fear of entering the author world?
William H: I’ve been there! Having second thoughts and doubts, in my opinion, are a part of the process. We are our own biggest critics. When things aren’t going the way in which we’d like, doubt rears its ugly head. However, if you love writing you owe it to yourself to keep writing and growing in the pursuit of your dream.
geelovestowrite: Tell us one thing that your fans don’t already know about you.
William H: Allow me to digress. Being a proponent of education, my favorite subject has always been math. I love the challenge it presents. I once aspired to be a math teacher and I feel that I can make a difference if I were.
geelovestowrite: Now that you are a published poet, what’s next for you?
William H: Well I’ve actually be cast in a short film called ‘A Fair One’ which will be shown at a film festival in Philly on October 9th and 10th. I’ve been working with a great talent by the name of Craig Dickerson who’s also a great poet and stage write. It’ll be my film debut so I’m very excited about this next move.
geelovestowrite: Any last comments, suggestions or nuggets of knowledge you want to share to help motivate or push other writers?
William H: To anyone pursuing a dream, it won’t happen overnight. You have to remain persistent with your drive. Dreams don’t allow you to get comfortable. In fact, being uncomfortable is what promotes growth. One never knows when opportunity will knock, therefore it’s better to be prepared. So, treat yourself to a copy of my book, Words from Wisdom, connect with forward energy and never give up!!
