Donna Hayes…the first women to run Harlequin Enterprises Ltd.

since it was founded in 1949.

Hayes started her career in publishing at Doubleday Canada, then moved on to Ogilvy & Mather before joining Harlequin in 1985.  Hayes grew up in the South Shore neighborhood of Montreal, Canada.  She read her first Harlequin book at the young age of 7-years old and knew she wanted a career in publishing.  Hayes led Harlequin into a new direction during her tenure (from romance fiction into women’s fiction)-many which made the New York Times and other bestseller lists.  She also teamed up with NASCAR to publish a series of NASCAR romance novels.

Hayes retired in 2013 and now enjoys time on her farm in Prince Edward County.  She is also an active member of the Toronto Peregrine Foundation.
